The mayor of Cadereyta de Montes has been accused of misinforming the citizens by attempting to resolve issues in secret minutes before the assembly, promising false solutions to problems that must be resolved legally, according to the union leader.

The union leader stated that their goal is not to obstruct municipal activities or harm the citizens, but to claim the withheld payments that belong to the workers so they can continue their tasks.

The Workers' Union of the municipality of Cadereyta de Montes has initiated an indefinite work stoppage due to the debt of more than 52 million pesos that the administration owes to public employees. The workers protested outside the municipal presidency due to the lack of payments that has persisted for at least 15 years.

The union leader, Fabiola Vega Ortiz, mentioned the mayor, Astrid Ortega's, lack of willingness to negotiate an agreement, as she has not participated in the working groups or in the conciliation hearings.

The mayor acknowledged the lack of financial capacity of her administration to meet the debt, offering only 2 million pesos to start the negotiations. Currently, only 16 workers will remain active to perform essential functions and two trucks with two people for garbage collection.

The governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri, indicated that the mayor did not request his help in this case but expressed his willingness to intervene on behalf of both parties if necessary, highlighting his readiness to help and act as a mediator in conflicts of this type.
